Having black powder weapons as an option as well is a good way to make a game stand out.įor example, I simply cannot understand the appeal of the new Thrones of Britannia game. There are endless video games in middle age settings with swords and bows. I don't think it's coincidental that TW games with black powder in them have been the best ones. Well that's an opinion I don't agree with. Those examples are hardly a reason to say that the black powder is era is the best for TW. It's why i like the Warhammer franchise setting more then Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. Having that black powder aspect can add so much to an otherwise typical medieval setting. Medieval 2 was great, but the best aspect of that game was "The Americas" expansion. FOS wasn't perfect, but it was outstanding, especially considering it technically wasn't a stand-alone title. The best "real world" TW games have been games in the black powder era: Shogun, Shogun 2, and Fall of Samurai (I know FOS was an expansion, but really it was a total game on its own). Just because it's the best setting doesn't mean they get it right every time. I said it was the best setting for the series.

I didn't say all TW games in the black powder age were good. Originally posted by Shut 'Em Down: Empire was the worst TW game ever made, that is an objective fact.ĭid you not read my last comment? I agree, Empire did suck.
